Brewster new Dundee United manager

GLASGOW (AFP) — Scottish Premier League strugglers Dundee United announced they had appointed their former striker Craig Brewster as the club's new manager after agreeing a compensation package with Inverness Caledionian Thistle, where he had been player-manager

Brewster, 39, had already agreed to return to Tannadice but United chairman Eddie Thompson was reluctant to pay the compensation Inverness were demanding.

However, the clubs have now reached agreement.

He succeeds Gordon Chisholm, sacked this week after the team had won just 10 of his 38 games in charge.

They now lie ninth in the 12-team top league and last weekend they squandered a two-goal lead at home against Aberdeen to go out of the Scottish Cup.
