Brewster takes charge of Dundee Utd

GLASGOW (AFP) — Dundee United have appointed their former player Craig Brewster as the club's fifth manager in four years after agreeing a deal to release him from Inverness Caledonian Thistle.

Brewster, who scored the winning goal for the club in the 1994 Scottish Cup final, replaces Gordon Chisholm, who was sacked on Tuesday, on a three and a half year contract.

The 39-year-old had been player-manager at Inverness and he plans to coninue playing at Tannadice.

"It has been a very, very long week," the 39-year-old said. "Ever since the club made it known they wanted me I was desperate to come here so I'm now glad everything is finalised.
