Campbell leads as Perez falters at Bob Hope Classic

PALM DESERT, United States (AFP) — Chad Campbell fired a six-under 66 to take the clubhouse lead early in the second round of the Bob Hope Chrysler Classic.
Campbell was in the clubhouse at 15-under 129 while on the course first-round leader Pat Perez, who fired a blistering 60 on Wednesday, was struggling in heavy winds.
Perez was one-over through 15 holes at the Classic Club, one of four courses in use for this five-round tournament.
Perez carded his first-round 60 at the Arnold Palmer Private Course at PGA West, the best opening round at the event since David Edwards shot a 61 in 1987.
Kevin Sutherland was in the club house six strokes behind Campbell after a 67.
