VALENCIA, Spain (AFP) — World motorcycling champion Valentino Rossi kept up with the pack in testing at the Ricardo Tormo circuit outside Valencia.
Just a day earlier, the Italian's Ferrari veered off the track only 2.8 kilometres into his new experience in wet conditions.
Undeterred, Rossi, who like Schumacher has seven world titles under his belt and whose ambition is now to make the Formula One grade, was back for a second helping and this time completed 52 laps to score the ninth-best time of the session.
The Italian, who turns 27 in a fortnight's time, managed a best lap time of 1.12.856 to outdrive seasoned drivers such as David Coulthard and Jarno Trulli.
