Mittal to close its sole factory in Luxembourg

LUXEMBOURG (AFP) — Mittal Steel is to close its only majority-owned steel factory in Luxembourg, a number of sources told AFP amid controversy over its hostile bid for Arcelor.
The plant, of which Mittal owns 75.0 percent with the other 25.0 percent controlled by European steel maker Arcelor, is likely to close in 2009 or 2010, the spokesman, Guenter de Backer, said Friday.
