Poiree looking good for elusive biathlon gold: coach

BESSANS, France (AFP) — French biathlete Raphael Poiree, a four-time world champion and Olympic silver medallist, is in the form of his life in his quest to claim that elusive gold medal, his shooting coach said.
Poiree had his first training workout on the Olympic course in San Sicario on Friday, his coach Jean-Pierre Amat said, adding that he had never seen his charge looking so "calm and balanced".
"Raphael made the choice to come to the site as soon as possible. He trained for the first time today," Amat told AFP.
The rest of Poiree's French biathlon team-mates were still training in the French Alpine town of Bessans but Amat was quick to play down any tension.
