BERLIN (AFP) — Former Germany coach and World Cup winning player Berti Vogts will co-ordinate the German team of coaches at the World Cup from June 9 to July 9, German Football Federation (DFB) officials announced.
Vogts' last high-profile position was an unsuccessful stint as manager of Scotland but he has now been drafted in to help Jurgen Klinsmann for the showpiece event.
The 59-year-old was a member of the 1974 West German World Cup winning team, was national team coach from 1990 to 1998 and led his country to the 1996 European Championships title.
He will also be aided by several other high profile names from Germany's football history with Matthias Sammer, Oliver Bierhoff and Joachim Low taking up positions.
