Palestinian Authority will be 'hostile entity': Israel

JERUSALEM (AFP) — The Palestinian Authority will have defined itself as a "hostile entity" if a Hamas-led government does not recognise Israel's right to exist, a senior Israeli government official said after a new parliament was sworn in.

Hamas has so far refused to adhere to calls by Israel and major international players in the peace process to renounce violence, recognise Israel's right to exist and commit itself to agreements which have been previously signed.

"If they do not accept all three conditions -- which are non-negotiable -- then there's no relationship and they will have defined themselves as a hostile entity," said the official speaking on condition of anonymity.
