Iran to execute two men convicted of oil city bombs

TEHRAN (AFP) — Two men convicted of involvement in a recent bomb attack in the restive oil city of Ahvaz are to be executed at dawn on Thursday, the official news agency IRNA reported.
The two men were convicted of a double bombing that rocked the city on October 15 killing six people and injuring close to 100 others, Khuzestan province's deputy governor Mohsen Farokh-Nejad was quoted as saying.
He described them as "individuals with Wahabi and Salafist tendencies," a reference to hardline Sunni Muslim ideologies that are fiercely opposed to the Shiite branch of Islam dominant in Iran.
