Paraguay unconvincing against Wales

CARDIFF (AFP) — Paraguay's World Cup preparations began in unconvincing fashion in a timid goalless draw with Wales at the Millennium Stadium.

La Albirroja's coach Anibal Ruiz had hoped the fixture against former Real Madrid manager John Toshack's side would provide an insight into how to compete against England come their World Cup opener on June 10 in Frankfurt.

Instead, Ruiz might have left Wales with more questions of his own side as they struggled to see off a team some 41 places below them in the FIFA world rankings.

The match did not offer the physical contest traditionally displayed by a British side, something which will be quite different come the Group B encounter with England.
