China warns Taiwan over "very risky" council move

BEIJING (AFP) — China warned that a move by Taiwan's President Chen Shui-bian to abolish an advisory council on unification with the mainland was very risky and would not succeed, state media said.

The remarks came from Chinese Foreign Minister Li Zhaoxing while he attended the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC) at the Great Hall of the People in Beijing, the official Xinhua news agency said.
