German music awards for Robbie Williams, Madonna and Bob Geldof

BERLIN (AFP) — British singer Robbie Williams, US superstar Madonna and Irish rocker-turned-campaigner Bob Geldof were all winners at Germany's annual Echo music awards.
Madonna, who didn't attend the event, won the best female artist award with Williams taking the male version.
In a recorded video message Williams saluted his fans and looked forward to this summer's football World Cup which Germany will host.
British rock group Coldplay, also absent, won the best international group award.
Among the other laureates were US metal group System of a Down and Argentinian singer Semino Rossi.
