Boro to face Basel in UEFA Cup quarter-finals

EINDHOVEN, The Netherlands (AFP) — Middlesbrough were drawn against Swiss side Basel in the UEFA Cup quarter-finals after ousting Italian side Roma in the last 16.
The English Premiership side will travel to Swizerland on March 30 and host their rivals on April 6 after the draw made here on Friday.
If they win Middlesbrough will meet the winner of the Romanian capital derby between Rapid Bucharest and Steaua Bucharest in the semi-finals.
In their second season in Europe, Middlesbrough have gone one better than last year when they lost to Sporting Lisbon in the last 16.
They dumped Roma out of the tournament on Wednesday night despite the Italians winning 2-1 with the English side advancing 2-2 on aggregate on the away goals rule.
