'Sex Bomb' Sir Tom Jones on bended knee before the queen

LONDON (AFP) — Legendary Welsh singer and ladies' man Tom Jones got down on bended knee before Queen Elizabeth II -- and arose Sir Tom when he was knighted at Buckingham Palace.

The hip-swivelling star, who is used to having underwear flung at him by adoring female fans, was made a knight of the realm under his real name, Thomas Woodward.

"I love seeing the queen and I have always been a royalist. She still is lovely," Jones said. "She has got a great smile and her whole face lights up when she smiles."

The star had a string of classic hits in the late 1960s, including "It's Not Unusual", "What's New Pussycat?", "The Green, Green Grass of Home", "Delilah" and "Help Yourself".
