SEOUL (AFP) — The South Korean unit of Qualcomm, a world leader in mobile phone technology, has been raided by fair trade regulators, the California-based company has said.
Fair Trade Commission (FTC) officials had entered the company's office in Seoul and searched the site, said Oh Jae-ha, executive vice president of Qualcomm Korea.
"Several FTC officials visited our office and asked us to cooperate with the investigation," Oh told AFP.
"We have no idea about what they were looking for. They didn't say what the investigation was all about. They said they were carrying out the proper duty of FTC and asked us to cooperate," he said.
The FTC declined to comment on the raid.
