Prosecutors arrest four people in Hyundai probe

SEOUL (AFP) — Four finance company officials have been arrested as part of an investigation into bribery allegations involving South Korea's largest auto company, Hyundai Motor, prosecutors have said.
The arrests came after investigators raided the offices of five corporate restructuring and financing firms, which were not Hyundai affiliates but were involved in helping the auto group acquire other companies.
Prosecutors have questioned Hyundai officials to see whether the auto group bribed government officials and politicians through a lobbyist arrested last month on bribery charges.
"We are conducting a prudent probe into Hyundai which has a great influence on our economy," prosecutor Chae Dong-Wook said.
