NEW YORK (AFP) — Darius Kasparaitis, a Russian defenseman for the New York Rangers, will undergo shoulder surgery on Wednesday, the National Hockey League team announced.
The operation will be performed by team physicians Andrew Feldman and Tony Maddalo, who also performed shoulder surgeries Monday on two other Rangers' players, Czech star Jaromir Jagr and Al Montoya.
Kasparaitis, 33, led the Rangers in penalty minutes with 97 in 67 games this past season. He also had two assists for the Russian squad at the Winter Olympics last February in Turin, Italy.
