Delphi issues can be resolved, GM chairman says

DETROIT, United States (AFP) — General Motors chairman and chief executive Rick Wagoner said he expects a deal to be hammered out soon to avoid a potentially crippling strike at Delphi, GM's bankrupt former parts division.
Wagoner said he expects a deal to avert a walkout by the United Auto Workers union.
During an interview with reporters, Wagoner said he was not surprised by the union's recent move last week calling for a strike authorization vote at Delphi.
"I hope they don't activate it," he said.
GM has taken steps to stockpile some parts provided by Delphi, but Wagoner said the supplies would only last "days" and he would rather have all of the parties come to a mutually acceptable pact that would avoid a walkout.
