Bulgarian star Berbatov close to Tottenham switch

LEVERKUSEN, Germany (AFP) — English Premier League side Tottenham Hotspur are on the brink of signing Bulgarian international striker Dimitar Berbatov from Bayer Leverkusen, the German club said.
"Tottenham have been in contact and are now prepared to pay the transfer fee we are asking for," Leverkusen sporting director Rudi Voller said in Bild daily. "It is now Dimitar's decision."
The 25-year-old Berbatov is contracted until June 2009 but Tottenham are prepared to match Bayer's asking price of 15.7 million euros (19.9 million dollars) to snap up the talented striker.
