Palestinian paychecks delayed again

GAZA CITY (AFP) — Palestinian employees, going on their fourth payless month, will have to wait another several days for back salaries, a spokesman for the Hamas-led Palestinian government has said.
It is the fourth time in a week that the Hamas government has promised the Palestinian Authority's 160,000 civil servants imminent paychecks amid daily protests by workers demanding pay.
"The money is present for the salaries for the government employees but it will take another several days because of technical and procedural matters," Ghazi Hamad told AFP Saturday.
Palestinian prime minister Ismail Haniya said Friday that workers would start receiving their paychecks by Sunday at the latest.
