Fortune set to be offered cross-City move

LONDON (AFP) — South Africa international Quinton Fortune is set to be offered a move across the city as Manchester City step up their interest in the player.

Stuart Pearce's team are keen on offering the former Manchester United midfielder a two-year deal.

The 29-year-old, who has been plagued by a knee injury for several years, had been expected to join Scottish Premier League champions Celtic last week.

However that deal collapsed because the Glasgow team only offered a one-year contract.

City and local rivals Bolton were both rumoured to be interested in Fortune, who may be keen to stay in the north-west to avoid uprooting his family.
