Koizumi-Bush to hold farewell White House summit

WASHINGTON (AFP) — Classic American rock'n'roll will be the finale of the final US visit by Japan's Prime Minister Junichiro Koizumi, here for a farewell summit with US President George W. Bush and a Graceland tour to show off their friendship.

Koizumi, who came to power in April 2001 and will step down in September, will hold talks with Bush in a symbolic summit on Thursday largely to show off their surprisingly close friendship and their countries' solid alliance.

The highlight of Koizumi's three-day US visit will come on Friday, when Bush will take him on Air Force One to Memphis to see the house of Elvis Presley, the rock'n'roll legend the Japanese leader idolizes.
