Evans can finish on podium says Rogers

GAP, France (AFP) — T-Mobile's Michael Rogers said it's only a matter of time before an Australian wins the Tour de France.

But ahead of three tough days of climbing in the Alps, the 26-year-old from Canberra admitted that countryman Cadel Evans could beat him to it.

Rogers sits eighth in the race's general classification and, until a change of plans, he will be riding in support of German team-mate Andreas Kloden.

Evans, who rides for Davitamon, finished eighth overall on his debut last year and, currently in fifth at 2:46 behind Spaniard Oscar Pereiro, is looking good for a top five finish.
