Boeing piles up orders at Farnborough

FARNBOROUGH, ENGLAND (AFP) — US plane maker Boeing has scored fresh orders at the half-way stage of the Farnborough International Airshow, while Airbus was still awaiting a first take-up in 2006 for its troubled A380 superjumbo.

Boeing said that US company International Lease Finance Corporation was converting an option to buy ten of its planes, including two long-haul 787 Dreamliners, worth 1.2 billion dollars (960 million euros), into a firm order.

"These airplanes reflect our confidence in the market going forward and our commitment to Boeing and its product line," ILFC chief executive Steven F. Udvar-Hazy said in a statement.

Boeing revealed also that Indian company Flyington Freighters intends to buy four future 777 cargo planes for an estimated 945...
