Ho flies the flag for Korean male pride

HOYLAKE, England (AFP) — SK Ho has struck a blow for Korean male pride when he fired a four-under-par 68 to grab a share of the early lead in the British Open.

A superb display with his putter allowed Ho to grab five birdies on the Royal Liverpool links and he was just as pleased to be grabbing headlines from his country's gang of superstar female golfers, led by Se Ri Pak.

"We have a lot of Korean ladies doing well, so we want to show that our men can do well also," said Ho, who took full advantage of playing most of his round before the sun had begun to dry out the course following overnight rain.

"My putting was really solid today, that was the key to my score," he said. "I must have holed out six or seven times from between three and six metres.
