LONDON (AFP) — British boxing star Amir Khan pleaded not guilty to a charge of dangerous driving.

Khan, who won a silver medal at the 2004 Olympics in Athens, appeared at Bolton Magistrates Court accused of knocking down a pedestrian in his BMW and causing the victim to suffer a broken leg during the incident in Bolton town centre on March 2.

The 19-year-old was given unconditional bail and the case was adjourned until September 21 for a further hearing and committal to Crown Court.

Khan turned professional after the Athens Olympics and has justified his reputation as one of the sport's rising stars by winning eight consecutive fights.
