Brewers deal Lee to Rangers, acquire Bell from Phillies

MILWAUKEE, United States (AFP) — Several hours after trading All-Star slugger Carlos Lee, the Milwaukee Brewers moved again to shore up their infield with the acquisition of Philadelphia third baseman David Bell.

The Brewers got Bell for minor league righthanded pitcher Wilfrido Laureano.

The move came three days after the Brewers received utility man Tony Graffanino in a trade with the Kansas City Royals.

Bell, 33, overcame a slow start this season to bat .281 with six home runs and 34 RBI in 91 games with the Phillies.

A veteran of 11-plus seasons, Bell owns a career average of .257 with 119 homers and 560 RBI in 1,349 games with Philadelphia, San Francisco, Seattle, Cleveland and St. Louis.
