Cher to auction home furnishings

LOS ANGELES (AFP) — Superstar singer and actress Cher said she would auction some 700 pieces of art and furniture from her Italian Renaissance-style home as she renews her lifestyle.

Cher said in a statement released by the Sotheby's auction house that the 60-year-old celebrity was entering a new phase of her career, starting with her house in Malibu, California.

"I am beginning a new chapter in my career and have decided to rewrite my personal environment, my home," she said in the statement.

The October 3-4 auction will be held in the Beverly Hilton, a hotel in Los Angeles, and will feature Cher's jewelry, memorabilia, and some of the revealing outfits she has warn on stage throughout her four-decade career.
