Kenya's Limo to defend Chicago Marathon title

CHICAGO (AFP) — Kenya's Felix Limo will defend his 2005 title at the 650,000-dollar Chicago Marathon in October, race officials announced in naming six world-class runners to the field of 40,000.

Chicago 2004 champion Constantina Tomescu-Dita, a 36-year-old Romanian who set a personal best last year, leads entrants for the women's race in the 29th edition of the Chicago Marathon, which will be staged October 22.

Australian Benita Johnson and Russians Ludmilla Petrova and Galina Bogomolova were added to the womens field.

Limo, 26, won the London Marathon last April in 2hrs, 6mins 39secs. He also won marathon crowns at Berlin and Rotterdam in 2004, setting a personal best of 2:06:14 in the Dutch event.
