US-based Arab and Muslim groups called to Saturday protests

WASHINGTON (AFP) — Several US-based Arab and Muslim organizations urged supporters to join in protests Saturday against US policy in the Middle East.

Organizers told a press conference that they plan to bus people into the capital from as far away as Florida, New York and the northern state of Michigan, home to a large Arab-American community.

Simultaneous protests are planned for the US west coast in Los Angeles, San Francisco and Seattle, as well as Orlando, Florida in the south, the organizers said.

The protesters will voice frustration for unwavering US support of Israel, which is waging simultaneous campaigns in Lebanon against the Hezbollah militia and the Palestinian Gaza Strip on its southern border.
