Davies helps Bolton rough up Tottenham

BOLTON, England (AFP) — Kevin Davies gave Tottenham a rough ride as Bolton enjoyed a convincing 2-0 win at the Reebok Stadium.

Wanderers striker Davies was too strong for Tottenham's shaky defence and opened the scoring after just nine minutes.

Spanish midfielder Ivan Campo added a second soon after and Sam Allardyce's side could have extended their lead as they overpowered the visitors.

Tottenham manager Martin Jol handed debuts to pre-season signings Didier Zokora, Dimitar Berbatov and Benoit Assou-Ekotto, but striker Robbie Keane was only among the substitutes after failing to recover fully from a thigh injury.

South Africa midfielder Quinton Fortune made his first Premiership appearance for Bolton after moving from Manchester United.
