PARIS (AFP) — French heavy engineering group Alstom said it had won a contract worth 560 million euros (716 million dollars) to build a coal-fired power station in the US state of Missouri.
The contract with Kansas City Power and Light is to build a power station near Weston, Missouri, and to upgrade an existing, smaller plant in the same area.
The new 850-megawatt plant is to be completed by 2010, Alstom said.
Shares in the French group gained 4.25 percent to close at 72.35 euros on the Paris stock exchange, making the stock the highest climber on Tuesday.
