Stink bomb: New York bus station evacuated by 'grenade' perfume

NEW YORK (AFP) — New York transport authorities shut down part of the city's main bus terminal when someone spotted an object that resembled a hand grenade but was in fact a bottle of perfume. Half of the terminal was evacuated at 11:00 am (1500 GMT) and reopened just over an hour later, a spokesman said, with normal services resuming shortly afterward.

"They discovered a suspicious package, which turned out to be a bottle of perfume," Port Authority of New York and New Jersey spokesman Tony Ciavolella said. The item was found sitting on a plastic bag in a public area.
