BOLTON, England (AFP) — Olympic silver medallist Amir Khan has appeared in court to deny charges of dangerous driving. Khan, 19, is accused of hitting a pedestrian and breaking the man's leg, while driving his BMW through Bolton town centre on March 2. The 2004 Olympics star denies the allegations and spoke only to confirm his name and address during a brief hearing at Bolton Magistrates Court.

The case will go to trial at Bolton Crown Court but was adjourned until November 3 for a plea management hearing. Khan is unbeaten in his nine lightweight fights since turning professional after winning the silver medal in Athens aged just 17. © 2006 AFP
