Van Bommel strikes again as Bayern reach summit

BERLIN (AFP) — Bayern Munich moved ominously to the top of the Bundesliga table with Dutch international Marc van Bommel scoring for the second game in succession to clinch a 2-1 win over Alemannia Aachen. The three points lifts reigning champions Bayern to the summit ahead of Schalke 04 on goals scored Saturday.

Schalke defeated VfL Wolfsburg 2-0 courtesy of goals from German international Kevin Kuranyi and Brazilian Lincoln. Borussia Monchengladbach, who led the standings after a 1-0 win over Borussia Dortmund on Friday, slipped to fourth with Hertha Berlin dropping to third after a 1-1 draw against Mainz 05. In the game of the day last season's second and third placed teams, Werder Bremen and SV Hamburg, shared the spoils in a 1-1 draw that is no good for either side....
