Silvestre sidelined as curse of metatarsal strikes United again

MANCHESTER (AFP) — Mikael Silvestre will be out of action for Manchester United for up to six weeks after breaking a bone in his foot, the club has confirmed. Silvestre suffered the injury in the defeat against Arsenal earlier this month and a scan has confirmed that the French defender has broken the second metatarsal bone in his right foot.
"It is more serious than we first thought and Mikael will be out for up to six weeks," United's assistant manager Carlos Queiroz said Friday. The injury is almost identical to those suffered by Silvestre's team-mates Gary Neville and Wayne Rooney last season. United, who face Newcastle on Sunday, have plenty of cover for Silvestre at left-back with Gabriel Heinze having just returned from injury and Patrice Evra also able to fill that...
