Party politics goes high-tech in the battle for new, younger votes

LONDON (AFP) — The governing Labour Party is at it, as are the opposition Conservatives and Liberal Democrats. Political blogging, podcasting and online video is taking off in Britain as politicians look to widen the net for new -- and importantly younger -- voters. The Lib Dems had regular webcasts and live video-streaming from their annual congress the week before last while Tony Blair's Labour appointed its own official conference blogger and featured podcasts with ministers last week.
As the party conference season wraps up with the Tories' get-together in the English south coast resort of Bournemouth from Sunday, party leader David Cameron launched his own site, the "webcameron" (www.webcameron.org.uk). "Watch out BBC, ITV, Channel 4.
