155 killed in Brazilian plane crash

BRASILIA (AFP) — All 155 people aboard a passenger airline died when their plane crashed deep in the Brazilian rainforest, authorities have said after rescuers scoured the wreck site. Search and rescue teams found only "bodies and more pieces of bodies" among the wreckage of the Boeing 737-800, said Jose Carlos Pereira, who heads Infraero, the company that manages Brazil's airports.

"There are no survivors and the (rescue) teams have withdrawn two bodies, still unidentified" read a statement from the Aeronautic Command, part of Brazil's Ministry of Defense. GOL Airline flight 1907 crashed after a mid-air collision, Denise Abreu, director of the National Civil Aviation Agency (ANAC), said at a press conference here.
