Saudis plan security fence along border with Iraq

DUBAI (AFP) — Saudi Arabia plans to put up a fence along its border with Iraq as a security measure, a senior Saudi official was quoted as saying on the Arabic-language satellite channel Al-Arabiya. "Erecting a fence, either of barbed wire or with thermal cameras or other adequate measures to prevent infiltration" is currently being studied, the Saudi vice-minister of the interior, Ahmed bin Abdel Aziz, told the station.
"I can't go into detail... but this will not be a separating wall," Prince Ahmed said, because of "an agreement with the Iraqi interior minister for the protection of common borders.
