Fossils of giant sea reptiles found in Arctic

OSLO (AFP) — Norwegian researchers have found a wealth of fossils in the Arctic from giant reptiles that swam the seas at the same time as dinosaurs, including a rare predator described as the "Tyrannosaurus Rex of the oceans," a member of the research team said. In the Svalbard archipelago off Norway's far north, the scientists found the skeletons of 28 reptiles that lived 150 million years ago.
The bones were discovered in the summertime, partially emerging from the rocks, which bodes well for future research, team member Joern Hurum told AFP. "We were not in Svalbard to excavate any skeletons. We were there to map skeletons to find one place where we could do a big scientific expedition in the next years, and we really found the treasure trove for that," Hurum said....
