Ultimatums against Iran 'counterproductive': Russia

MOSCOW (AFP) — Russia and China consider that serving Iran with ultimatums over its nuclear programme is "counterproductive," Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Alexander Alekseyev has said. "The positions of our two states coincide on the absolute inadmissibility of the use of force and the threat of using force," Alekseyev said, quoted by Interfax news agency.

Dealing with Iran "in the language of ultimatums, trying to force them into a corner, is counterproductive," he added. © 2006 AFP
