Two top BA executives resign amid price probe

LONDON (AFP) — British Airways has announced that two key executives had resigned amid a probe by British and US authorities into alleged cartel activity over fuel surcharges. In reaction, BA's share price tumbled 2.0 percent, making the stock the heaviest faller in early afternoon trade on London's FTSE 100 index of leading shares.

Martin George, commercial director, and Iain Burns, head of communications, have left their positions with immediate effect, BA said in an official statement to the London Stock Exchange Monday. George's resignation letter cited "inappropriate conversations" within his department over fuel surcharges but said he had not been involved in the discussions.
