Gronholm eyes Turkish win as Solberg hits trouble

ANTALYA, Turkey (AFP) — Finland's former world champion Marcus Gronholm was in sight of victory in the Rally of Turkey after closest rival Petter Solberg's Subaru collided with a rock. Ford Focus driver Gronholm had taken a 26.1sec lead after Friday's opening day over Solberg but disaster struck for the Norwegian driver on the penultimate stage on Saturday when his Subaru hit a rock four kilometres from the end of the section.

The problems suffered by Solberg, who had won five of the race's stages, left Gronholm with a comfortable 2min 05.2sec lead over compatriot and teammate Mikko Hirvonen ahead of the final day's three stages.
