Jagshemash! Borat bursts into Britain on a cart

LONDON (AFP) — Borat, the madcap fictional Kazakh television reporter, ploughed in the heart of London on a cart for the British premiere of his film, surrounded by grim-faced peasants and scantily-clad women. Carrying a tacky Union Jack umbrella, Borat waved to the crowds in Leicester Square, the traditional home of glitzy British film events.

But there was little glamour among the haggard-looking peasant women carrying bundles of cloth, crossbow-bearing officials and dirty-faced children forming the guard of honour around Borat's mule and cart. "Borat: Cultural Learnings of America for Make Benefit Glorious Nation of Kazakhstan" stars its creator Sacha Baron Cohen -- the British comic who rose to fame as the spoof rapper Ali G -- in the title role, incarnating a blundering...
