LYON, France (AFP) — Slovak Dominik Hrbaty became the third top seeded player to be dumped from the 659,000-euro ATP tournament. Hrbaty, the third seed, fell 6-3, 6-3 to 61st-ranked Frenchman Marc Gicquel in his second round match after top seed Marcos Baghdatis of Cyprus and Argentine second seed Gaston Gaudio were eliminated on Tuesday.
Gicquel will next meet the winner of the tie between sixth-seeded compatriot Sebastien Grosjean and qaulifier Cyril Saulnier, in the quarter-final. Grosjean's participation is however in doubt as he pulled out of the doubles earlier Wednesday with a thigh injury. Eighth-seeded Spaniard Nicolas Almagro advanced to the quarter-finals when he beat German Florian Mayer 7-6 (7/5), 6-4. © 2006 AFP
