Three Palestinians killed by Israeli fire in Gaza

GAZA CITY (AFP) — Three Palestinians have been killed by Israeli troops operating in the Gaza Strip, Palestinian security and medical sources said. Ahmed al-Bureim, 18, was killed by gunfire during an Israeli incursion in Abassan in the southern Gaza Strip, said a medic, who was unable to say clarify whether the teenager was carrying a weapon or was an unarmed civilian.

Lami Abu Lahia, 27, a member of the Palestinian national security force, was killed earlier in the day, not far from Abbassan, the sources said. The Israeli army confirmed its forces were operating in southern Gaza as part of an ongoing offensive launched after the abduction of a soldier in a cross-border raid near Gaza on June 25.
