LONDON (AFP) — British boxer Amir Khan is to face trial on a charge of dangerous driving next April. The 19-year-old Olympic silver medallist is accused of hitting a pedestrian and breaking his leg in the centre of his home town, Bolton, north-west England, in March. Khan, who has pleaded not guilty to the charge, appeared at Bolton Crown Court Friday and spoke only to confirm his name.
His trial, which starts on April 23 next year, is expected to last three days. Khan is unbeaten in nine lightweight fights since turning professional after winning the silver medal in Athens in 2004. He is due to fight again in London next month. © 2006 AFP
