Goal king Cole rescues Portsmouth

PORTSMOUTH, England (AFP) — Portsmouth striker Andy Cole hit a late equalizer to salvage a 1-1 home draw against Fulham. Cole scored just eight minutes after coming off the bench and his second goal of the season ensured Harry Redknapp's side got the point their play deserved after the shock of falling behind to Zat Knight's header.

Portsmouth have enjoyed an impressive start to the season and Cole's strike ensures their unlikely bid for a Champions League place remains intact. Fulham boss Chris Coleman had vowed to make his team harder to beat this season but they were indebted to goalkeeper Antti Niemi for a string of fine stops at Fratton Park.
