Mum's the top word for flying Kiwis

WELLINGTON (AFP) — New Zealanders may be able to do without many things, but it seems that when it comes to travelling, they can't do without their mum, according to a survey. Mums were identified as the fourth most important item to take along when heading overseas, behind credit cards, a camera and a copy of Lonely Planet travel guide.

The survey, conducted for GlobalPlus credit card, also revealed 87 percent of New Zealanders preferred to sit beside family or friends when flying. Sports stars, especially prominent rugby players, were the second preference, accounting for five percent. Former All Blacks flyhalf Andrew Merhtens was the most favoured rugby player, with Daniel Carter, Richie McCaw, Anton Oliver and Christian Cullen among those also rating a mention....
