Hart named US track coach of the year

INDIANAPOLIS, United States (AFP) — Clyde Hart, who guided Golden League 400-meter sweeps by Jeremy Wariner and Sanya Richards, was named Coach of the Year by USA Track and Field. Winning the award for the second time in three years, Hart saw star pupils Richards and Wariner enjoy undefeated outdoor 400m campaigns, including an American 400m record for Richards.

"When you have two great athletes like I have, they keep me fired up," Hart said. "It was a remarkable year. It couldn't have been any better from their standpoint. These kids are young, they work hard and I really enjoy working with them." Richards won the IAAF World Cup in August in 48.70 seconds to shatter one of the oldest US records, Valerie Brisco's 48.83 from the 1984 Olympics, and cap a 15-race win streak....
